How Do They Do It?
Yesterday was shoe shopping day. Our family does not invest in tons of shoes. I have the most pairs of shoes in the family, and they total about eight. I probably need to throw out some of my old ones, but I haven't done it yet. My children each own one pair of shoes. They each get a pair of tennis shoes about every six months. This isn't by any exact formula, and I keep thinking I should modify this practice, but shoe shopping is a painful experience with our children. They HATE going shoe shopping. Abby is changing her tune about shoe shopping...she might end up loving shoes ..but she'll have to support that habit on her own.
Yesterday when we went shopping, I was prepared to be a little shocked at how much my children's feet have grown in six months. I was not prepared for the amount of shock. Giddy's foot had grown by two full sizes! His shoe size is now 9.5 in men's shoes. That boy has big feet. Abby was really a surprise, also. She typically grows about 1/2 a size in six months. She went from size 3.5 to size 5 in women's shoes. Levi only went up a half size, making his feet 12.5 in boys. Big, but not gigantic yet.
Every time we go shopping, I am shocked. The kids never even complain about their shoes getting tight. They don't seem to be bothered by small shoes. I can't figure out how they squeeze those BIG feet into those LITTLE shoes.
Do you have any shoe stories to share? Do your children love shopping for shoes? How can I help mine love it more?
Happy Monday,
Sarah
