Balancing the everyday

For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven:
a time to be born, and a time to die;
a time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted;
a time to kill, and a time to heal;
a time to break down, and a time to build up;
a time to weep, and a time to laugh;
a time to mourn, and a time to dance;
a time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together;
a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;
a time to seek, and a time to lose;
a time to keep, and a time to cast away;
a time to tear, and a time to sew;
a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
a time to love, and a time to hate;
a time for war, and a time for peace. Ecclesiastes 3: 1-8

Father, why is it so hard to keep things in balance. I know that in the grand scheme I have so little to balance, and yet I struggle with maintaining it.  Lord, you have the whole world to balance, each life within it and all of the heavens and the heavenly bodies to balance, but you never lose your footing.  In fact, David reminds us frequently that the earth is your footstool.  You have it all so together that you can rely on the balance it all for your feet to rest upon!

This time of year is getting pretty busy. The kids have places to run, work is super busy this month, and soon we will start adding in gatherings of friends and family.  Please let me feel confident that you have it all balanced. That you are in control, and that you are comfortably managing it all.

In all of this you have not forgotten us. You have already provided all that we need.  You sacrificed the balance of heaven for us.  You sent your Son to be killed on a cross for us.  And in it all, you did not destroy us for how we accepted and rejected Him, but instead, you revealed to us a plan to be a more intimate part of the balance you reign over.  Your grace is all consuming and overwhelming.

Thank you, Eternal One, for being the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. Thank you for caring enough about us to provide everything we need.  Thank you for keeping it all in balance for us, so that we don't even need to worry about a single moment of your plan.

In Jesus, precious name, who provided the pathway to your throne. Amen
