Practice makes progress

Practice - I've learned over many years it is a sacred word.   It is both the action and the destination of life.   I speak of it often to people... and sometimes they can hear its ancient pull and sometimes they are clouded and believe that something else is actually pulling.   But I always know.... only practice ever leads to the places most dear to the heart.
I wonder when the word practice took on negative connotation. When did we stop believing that being intentional about perfecting a skill wasn't worthy of our investment?

Whether it is the slow movement of a plane perfecting the feel of wood, the playful notes of the piano, or the intentional movement of a paintbrush on the canvas,  practice is something beautiful.   And in the practice,  with all the flaws and imperfection,  there is great joy to be found.   It makes the hours pass in productivity, but also in relaxation.   What a wonderful opportunity to fill our hours without wasting them.

So what are you choosing to practice right now?
